Our Guiding Principles

Learn more about the Center for Health Equity in this video produced for the MIRACLES XXVI Gala which took place on September 29, 2015

Working on improving Health Equity is complicated. It takes time and a collaborative effort to stay focused and to find opportunities to celebrate change. The process is slow but it is rewarding to see the significant difference that this work can have on the health and well-being of others. Over time our team has developed a set of Guiding Principles for doing this work. They include:

  • Look for Simple Solutions
  • Continue to Learn
  • Respect the Value of Each Person’s Input
  • Put Relationships at the Center of the work
  • Build Trust with Sustained Engagement

Our Approach:

The Curtis D. Robinson Center for Health Equity engages in activities that:

  • BRIDGE the divide between the healthcare providers and patients
  • NAVIGATE through the complex healthcare system to find and develop solutions
  • SUPPORT the community in addressing heath disparities

Our mission will help ensure health and well-being by providing better access to less complicated services and eliminating barriers to quality care resulting in improved outcomes. This is our version of implementing the Triple Aim of Healthcare – improved outcomes, increased satisfaction, and lower cost.

Our Work

The CDRCHE brings together programs and initiatives that impact Health Equity across the hospital system, for example: organizing initiatives to address diversity; managing the Language Services Program; providing navigation training; monitoring community benefit activities; completing the hospital’s Community Health Needs Assessment; engaging community partners; providing community based health screening and conducting health equity research.
